lately with the gang-

i know i need to be better about blogging. i feel like so much has been going on latey and this blog has totally been taking the back seat.

as of thursday morning, ALL 16 of dev's dental school applications were sent in. AH! they are all done and now all that's left to do is the waiting game... we should hear about schools and interviews this fall/around christmas time. we are so excited to see what happens!

dev has been at youth conference this week. he works with the young men in the ward and they just love him!

{how could they not?? i guess i'm a little biased}

but for this year, the stake decided since we live so close to DC they should take advantage of it! they had like a massive rat race/scavenger hunt with all the monuments around. dev said it's been a BLAST but bloody hot! yah, they decided to do it during one of the hottest weeks of the year. let me tell you, virginia during the dead of summer is anything but pleasant and lovely. i imagine this is what weather is like down under - not the outback, but you know where...

a young cadette died on thursday during his drills because of the heat. yes, it is THAT hot. the heat index got to 124 degrees yesterday. that is not a typo! one hundred and twenty four freaking degrees. that is what humidity does. it makes me want to barf. the tv satelite wouldn't work the other day because it said the receiver was too hot to work, it said it was baking at 140 degrees and had to be cooled off, ha! anyways, i couldn't be more grateful for air conditioning! it makes me think about our founding fathers and how in the world they were able to survive the summers out here! i am grateful for the time we live now with all the modern conveniences. thank you man who invented air conditioning and otter pops!

while i was at the grocery store today, child in toe (what does that even mean?) i proceeded to get hit on by a marine. just so lovely. then, he followed me out to the parking lot and kept looking at us while we were packing up the car. BAHHHHH. creep much!?! you better believe i sped out of that parking lot faster than you can say, nasty molester! it must be the heat that's making people creepy now-a-days.

the pig is getting big as ever! he must be growing right now because he's eating almost every 2 hours (not at night time though, thank goodness!) and sleeping a TON! he's down for his morning nap and got his adorable poochy butt sticking up with his big pouty lips sticking out and he's snoring up a storm, while sneaking in some smiles. ohhhh, i just love watching him sleep! i hope this era of my sleep-creep-watching ends before he's 15. i don't want him to wake up when he's 18 and i'm just smiling and watching him sleep still. cree-eee-per mom award. he will always be so cute to me!

but boy o boy, can that little stinker jabber! he jabbers alllllll day long! there is hardly a moment of pause or silence around here. i love it! i feel like we are both singing together in the car. he has tooties allll the time and laughs when he does it. and man alive can he crawl and bounce! he is EVERYWHERE! he's given himself scabs on his knees from our carpets because he is unstoppable! crew LIVES to be in his jumperoo! he is a happy camper whenever he is in that thing. i think he'd be happy in there all day if we let him stay in it that long. he just smiles and talks to himself and jumps away. piggy is a happy, happy baby! we were seriously blessed so much with this kid! i didn't know babies were supposed to be this happy all the time. he's got major giggles all day long and my face constantly hurts from laughing with him. {maybe he just thinks my laugh is funny?} we are so blessed for our little family.
i sure love that guy!!! isn't he cute!?! i was 7 months along with the crew-poo in this pic. haha crazy how the time flies! next thing i know, i'll be 7 months prego with the next one.

{no this is NOT a pregnancy announcement, ha!}

we got the worst news this morning that a dear family friend of ours passed away, scott fellows. it has been really hard to take in. all deaths are, but especially when it's such a lively person that makes such a difference around them. about two weeks ago he had a brain aneurism and has had 3 strokes since then. he was only 51. i can honestly say, scott was one great man. probably one of the funniest people i've ever met and so full of life! his kids and wife just adored him and i can't imagine their family without him. i was always over at their house during high school and when i came home from breaks in college. he would always greet me with a kiss on the cheek and call me princess. such a genuine person.

whenever someone passes away that i'm very close to, it makes me remember how precious life is. i try not to make such a big deal out of the little things, whether the trash was taken out or not or whether crew had a blow out in public and i forgot to pack an extra onesie for him. life is the whole package. i need to remember to always look at the bigger picture and hold the ones i love so tight to me. truly live in the moment and have no regrets. life is so short. tell all those you love them so much they are sick of hearing it :) i promise, those three words are REAL hard to get sick of hearing.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and I know exactly what you mean about losing people who are so effervescent and who change so many people's lives! But it's inspiring to know that they made the most of the time they spent on earth :) And maybe if you'd stop being so cute, guys would stop hitting on you even whenyou've got a child in tow (carrying a kid around with you, haha)
